Packaging and Materials Technology

Packaging is crucial for every industry

Packaging plays an important part of all products (food and non-food) to assure the delivery of the products to end consumers in desired conditions with the most reasonable cost. With an awareness of the agility of packaging industry and continual growth of the global economics, Department of Packaging and Materials Technology (PKMT, former Department of Packaging Technology) was first established in 1980. In addition to the bachelor level, PKMT has offered its master degree since 2001, following doctoral degree since 2007. It is the first institute in Asia Pacific region to offer all three degree levels in packaging technology.

 

Packaging technology integrates the diversity of knowledge and applications including science, engineering, arts, economics, management and marketing. PKMT covers teaching and research from packaging materials, package manufacturing, packaging process, packaging machinery and equipment, packaging in distribution systems, packaging design, and printing as well as decoration technology, to environmental conscious packaging. All graduates from PKMT are capable to strengthening and enhancing their knowledge in higher studies, not only to protect and reduce the product deterioration, but also to add value and marketing as well as promoting the finished goods.

Master of Science (M.S.) (Packaging Technology)

M.S. (PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY) Plan 1
(Research Option Program for Thai and International Students)

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an accredited university or educational institute. Applications who have working experience in packaging and materials technology are preferred. A total of 36 credits of thesis are required, as follows:

Major Courses minimum 2 credits (audit)

+ Seminar 2 credits (audit)

Thesis minimum 36 credits

Total minimum 36 credits

 

M.S. (PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY) Plan 2 (Program for Thai Students)

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an accredited university or educational institute. A total of 36 credits of graduate courses (with 12 credits of thesis) are required, as follows:

Major Courses minimum 24 credits

+ Seminar 2 credits

+ Major requirements 5 credits

+ Major electives 17 credits

Thesis minimum 12 credits

Total minimum 36 credits
